At L Pearson Design, we believe that the key to a truly elegant home lies in the artful mix of old and new. Incorporating antique and vintage pieces into your home décor brings a timeless elegance that effortlessly blends the past with the present. These treasures don’t just add charm—they tell a story, creating a unique and personal narrative in your space.

Why L Pearson Design Loves Antiques:

Every fine home I’ve stepped into shares a common thread—timeless design elements that stand the test of time. From Amari china to antique case goods rich in patinated wood, the presence of historic pieces instantly elevates a space. At L Pearson Design, we specialize in creating interiors where classic antiques and contemporary furnishings coexist in perfect harmony.

There's something magical about placing a modern, minimalist lamp atop an 18th-century chest or hanging an antique mirror above a sleek, contemporary console. These contrasts create visual interest and balance, which is central to our design philosophy.

Favorite Styles We Use at L Pearson Design:

While we love all antiques, a few styles truly stand out:

  • Louis Philippe: Understated elegance with bold silhouettes.

  • Regency (Neoclassical mixed with Empire): Sophisticated and architectural.

  • Louis XVI: Timeless symmetry and refined ornamentation.

  • Art Deco: Glamorous, streamlined, and irresistibly bold.

We’re also drawn to Swedish Gustavian furniture for its rustic refinement and English antiques for their craftsmanship and heritage. These pieces often incorporate rich materials like mahogany, rosewood, and zebrawood veneers, accented with brass. Introduced around 1810, French polishing gave these woods their famously smooth, high-gloss finish—something we love to feature in our projects.

Chinoiserie: A Little Goes a Long Way:

Another favorite at L Pearson Design is Chinoiserie—the Western interpretation of Chinese and Asian design, popular in 18th-century Europe. Used in royal courts, Chinoiserie design features intricate hand-painted motifs of birds, flowers, pagodas, and landscapes on lacquered surfaces. While we use it sparingly, a touch of Chinoiserie can make a space feel truly special.

The Difference Between Vintage and Antique:

A common question we get at L Pearson Design: What’s the difference between vintage and antique? Vintage items are generally at least 20 years old, while antiques are 100 years or older. While both can be beautiful, antique furniture has a lasting value—both emotionally and financially.

Antique pieces are built from seasoned, high-quality timber using expert craftsmanship that often makes them more durable than modern mass-produced furniture. While today’s furniture typically lasts around 15 years, antiques can be cherished for generations. That longevity also makes them a sustainable choice, helping reduce waste in today’s disposable culture.

Why Choose L Pearson Design for Timeless Interiors?

At L Pearson Design, we are passionate about blending antique and vintage furniture with modern elements to create curated, livable homes full of soul and sophistication. Whether it’s a Gustavian sideboard paired with contemporary art or a Louis XVI chair sitting beneath a sculptural light fixture, we help clients tell their story through design.

Looking to elevate your home with timeless style? Let L Pearson Design help you find that perfect balance between the old and the new.
